OSLO, Norway -- Crayon Group Holding ASA announced today it has signed an agreement for a full Internet of Things (IoT) solution that is valued at several million Norwegian kroner.

It is the first big IoT win for the global leader in digital transformation services. The solution is for a Scandinavian services company and includes 1,500 IoT devices that will collect environmental data from buildings.

“The win marks Crayon’s first significant IoT deal,” said Crayon CEO Torgrim Takle. “Crayon engineers have built a highly sophisticated solution for data collection via IoT technology that will be hosted on Microsoft Azure.”

Crayon IoT solutions are closely connected to its formidable Cloud and AI practices and this new contract accelerates its investment in these areas.

“We expect many more of these contracts in the future as our approach to IoT is highly scalable across several industries such as transportation, health care, manufacturing and building management,” Takle said.

IoT is growing at a record pace, with Gartner predicting anything from 20 billion up to 50 billion connected devices to be in existence by next year.

Crayon works closely with international customers to release the value from existing and new data by utilizing new technology, including IoT.

“We have developed numerous IoT projects in several industries, but this comprehensive solution is our largest to date and signals our capacity to provide global IoT solutions,” said Erling Hesselberg, Crayon VP who oversees the IoT practice.
